ORCIBS Seminar - Retsef Levi

Zoonotic viruses that jump from animals to humans pose major risks to human health and have been responsible for local outbreaks and global pandemics. In this talk, we shall discuss how analytics models and algorithms can inform better understanding of risk drivers and mechanisms underlying the spread of zoonotic viruses, as well as some risk mitigation strategies. The talk will include several examples related to avian flu and SARS-CoV-2.

Retsef Levi is the J. Spencer Standish (1945) Professor of Operations Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management and affiliated faculty at the MIT Operations Research Center. He serves as the MIT Sloan Faculty Co-Director of the Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) program and as the Faculty Director of the MIT Sloan Food Supply Chain Analytics and Sensing (FSAS) Initiative.
